Welcome to this 5 module CPD on preparation for lambing, brought to you by Nettex Agriculture. 

This course consists of three modules. The first module focuses predominantly on protein nutrition. The second focuses predominantly on our ewes nutritional requirements post-lambing and through lactation and the third starts with a quick refresh on digestible undegradable protein, DUP and the benefits for our ewe during lactation and post-lambing. Rumenco’s product of choice for this time of year is Rumevite GrazeDUP so we’ll look in more detail at this product, looking in particular at the features and benefits along with how we would recommend feeding it. Finally, we’ll look at some of the on farm data we have for GrazeDUP and finish with a  revision on the benefits of block feeding.

The objectives of this course are to understand the calving process, potential problems and the importance of calving supplements to support key issues.

This course consists of 4 modules where we will outline animal requirements for vitamins and minerals and discuss what can happen when vitamins and minerals are not supplied in the correct amounts. We will then discuss how the need for mineral supplementation can be identified and the various forms of supplements available. Finally, we will discuss how boluses in particular can be used to ensure optimal mineral and vitamin supply and outline the EnduraBol range of boluses.

This course aims to outline the importance of good management and nutrition on the approach to lambing along with some of the health issues that can occur.

Module 1: The facts, background and objectives; Module 2: Weaning to tupping; Module 3: Tupping to early pregnancy and the tups; Module 4: Supplementary feeding at tupping time.

Module 1: What is transition milk; Module 2: Why is transition milk important; Module 3: Feed transition milk.

The objectives of this CPD training module with Tommy The Vet are to understand: What are the challenges for the cow at calving time and mastitis, how we can control mastitis during the dry period, what are good protocols at drying off, look at the importance of hygiene during this period, the benefits of snap testing for calf diarrhoea and Discuss the benefits of an external teat sealant at drying off.

An introduction to the importance of minerals, vitamins and trace elements for ruminant animals. The course aims to outline the importance of these key elements for the health and production of ruminant animals. The essential minerals, vitamins and trace elements are considered individually as well as the effects of deficiency. Additionally, the CPD course looks at undertaking a mineral audit on farm to ensure the correct mineral advice and products are recommended.

This course looks at the role of magnesium in ruminant diets, factors affecting magnesium availability and how to identify clinical and sub-clinical grass tetany. It gives insight into what signs to be aware of and best ways to prevent and treat grass tetany.

Understanding the basics of biosecurity and the challenges we face implementing them in an on farm situation. Understanding how to choose and correctly use DEFRA approved disinfectants.

Understanding what diseases affect the hoof and how they affect the locomotion of the cow. The need for a whole farm approach is considered alongside footbathing routines and frequency.

Maximising calf health, introducing infectious scours and respiratory issues in calves. Outlining symptoms associated with these common issues, reviewing treatment and prevention. Reviewing calf key performance indicators on farm and how to achieve them and introducing MAXX Calf Health, it’s features and benefits and how it supports calf health on farm

A three part course to educate on the causes and treatment of calf diarrhoea. 

This course describes colostrum in detail. It gives an overview on the importance of IgG, the passive transfer of IgG, other ingredients in colostrum, the importance of collection and storage of colostrum with reference to bacterial impact on colostrum and the calf.
